I was debating about heading west for spring break. I had almost bought my tickets for the snowy Wasatch Mountains in Utah, when a friend invited to me Florida. She was driving cross country to visit her parents in Miami and wanted someone to tag along. I told her as long as she didn’t mind me bring my video game music collection and me asking her parents about home security Florida, I would love to be her dashboard drummer for a week. She said she didn’t know how her parents would feel, but it was ok with her so we set out on the open road in her red bug (license plate QTBUG) enjoying the sound of the London Philharmonic playing some of the most amazing tunes in universe. It took us two days, driving 10 hours a day, to get to her parents. We arrived around dinner time and so decided to go out for Sushi. Over a very delicious Spicy Tuna roll, I asked her parents what they thought of the current trends in Florida home security. They said that they lived in a gated community that paid a security guard for 24 hour protection. So when it came to a home security system, they thought they were covered. I left the subject at that and enjoyed the rest of my Sushi.I thought the discussion was over; however, my friend brought it back up on the ride home. She wanted to know more about her options, seeing as she didn’t live in a gated community but rather a run-down, college student salary, sized apartment. She confess that security had always been a concern for her but never knew what to do about it. We talked for quite a while about what she could afford and what she needed.I’m glad to say that the trip provided me with the vacation I needed and my friend with the information she desired.

The High-Rise Burglar is finally in jail. Andrew Puc robbed condos and apartments in Orlando by climbing up the side of the building and entering through unlocked balcony doors, as high up as the fourth floor. He plead no contest to multiple burglaries and will be spending 7 years behind bars for his crimes.
While this thief was unusually agile and nimble, he is by no means the only robber to climb up balconies and break into homes through unlocked doors. Many Florida residents who live above the ground floor think they are secure by locking only their front door, and often leave their back, side or balcony doors unlocked. This is especially true of beachfront property, when owners think they can simply “keep an eye” on the balcony doors while relaxing on the sand.
No one wants to lose their keys in the sand, but it is worse to leave your home unlocked and vulnerable to theft. There are alternatives to leaving your home unlocked and unprotected. First, always set your home security alarm. If you accidentally leave a door unlocked, the alarm will sound when an intruder enters. There are also a variety keyless door locks you can use to enter without a key. Be smart, and hire a professional to help you develop a home security plan with an alarm system that meets your needs.
